A new indie pop star made his debut in the industry in 2015 and without taking much time, he immediately caught the attention of the world with his incredible vocal and songwriting talents. He was none other than Børns. In the past two years, he has released a number of very melodious songs and has performed in festivals like, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and the Mo Pop Festival. Finding his love for arts

Børns grew up in Grand Haven. He was fascinated by arts from a young age. When he was 10, the Michigan native became a professional magician and went by the name of, ‘Garrett the Great.’ After some time, he won a Gold Key Award in the National Scholastic Art Award and also received an $8,000 scholarship to the Kendall College of Arts and Design.

He later began to develop interest in music and soon landed a record deal with REZidual Records. Børns then took a part in a TEDx event where he received applause from the audience when he performed music on his ukulele. This motivated him to pursue a career as a singer and song-writer. He later worked on his first extended play titled, ‘A Dream Between’ which came out in 2012. The EP consisted of seven songs.

In 2013, Børns packed his bags and went for a vacation in Los Angeles where he met Jack Kennedy. The duo wrote the song, 10,000 Emerald Pools which landed at the seventh spot on the Adult Alternative Songs. The song also featured on his second extended play, ‘Candy.’ It arrived in the stores on November 10, 2014. The extended play reached the second spot on the Heatseekers Albums chart and went on to sell in excess of thirty thousand copies in the United States. ‘Candy’ was also praised by the critics including, AllMusic who gave it four stars out of five. The EP included groovy songs like, Seeing Stars and Past Lives.

Dopamine

A year after ‘Candy’ hit the shelves, Børns teamed up with esteemed producers like, Tommy English, Ariel Rechtshaid, John Hill and Jack Kennedy Herkel and released his debut album, ‘Dopamine’ in 2015. It was issued by Interscope Records. The album charted at the second and twenty fourth spots on the Alternative Albums and Billboard 200 respectively. Moreover, it also got favorable response from the critics including The Daily Listening which called Børns, ‘the male Zella Day’ and stated, “Dopamine is definitely an album worth picking up this fall.”

Electric Love

Børns’ first studio effort, ‘Dopamine’ offered five singles including, Electric Love. The song went on to sell more than a million copies in the United States and was certified platinum in the country. It became a worldwide hit and reached the sixth spot on the Adult Alternative Songs chart. In addition, AllMusic labeled the song, ‘alt-radio hit of summer 2015.’ Moreover, Electric Love was described by Spin as a, “crisp, beachside pop anthem.”

Electric Love has also enjoyed enormous commercial success. The song appeared in two Southwest Airlines Commercials. It also appeared in the Hollywood movie, ‘Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse.’

Børns is throwing a party

Some venues where he is scheduled to perform include the Rough Trade NYC in Brooklyn, the Horseshoe Tavern in Toronto and The Viaduct in Los Angeles. BORNS Announces North American Tour Dates

American singer and songwriter BORNS recently announced a North American tour in support of his upcoming sophomore album. The trek includes 21 dates and is scheduled to kick off with a show in Oakland on January 17. It will then hit major cities such as Atlanta, New York, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Chicago and Dallas.

BORNS’ upcoming album is slated to release in January of 2018. Featuring singles such as ‘Sweet Dreams’ and ‘Faded Heart,’ the album follows up ‘Dopamine’ which came out in 2015 and reached the 25th spot on the Billboard 200.
