Born Ruffians Tickets
In recent years, Indie music has risen up from the underground scene and hit the mainstream with a bang. The British Indie scene has given the world some very talented artists and their American counterparts have followed suit. It was only a matter of time till the Canadian underground music scene produced Indie stars of its own and that time has now come. The internet sensation Born Ruffians are here with their second album out and a world tour under their belt.
One of the prime examples of internet stardom is this Canadian band that started out as a MySpace sensation and slowly made their way into the Canadian Indie music scene. The Ontario based band consists of three main members; namely Luke LaLonde on Guitars and Lead Vocals, Mitch Derosier on Bass and Steven Hamelin on Drums. The three got together and started making their own brand of life-inspired Indie music. They moved to Toronto and moved up the local music scene until they were signed by the British record label Warp Records.
The band released their debut album Red, Yellow and Blue in 2006 to much critical appraise. The album was highly rated by internet critics as well as many major publications. The small band of fans that the group had acquired grew and the two singles off the album, Hummingbird and Foxes Mate for Life, were hits on and offline. The band then went on to perform extensively including tours and performances with the likes of Hot Chip, Franz Ferdinand, Bjorn and many more mainstream acts. The second album by the band was called Say It and it was released in June 2010. This album spawned the much loved single What to Say and was very well received by critics. It was reviewed by a much wider number of critics including publications like NME and it received positive reviews overall.
Born Ruffians’ music is true Indie brilliance. The simple yet intricate riffs and melodies totally catch the listener’s imagination while the sometimes mystic lyrics sung in the pitch perfect voice of LaLonde are truly heartwarming. While the voice of the lead singer might remind you of previous Indie bands like Muse and The Fray, the lyrical content of their songs takes us into a different direction. The band usually bases their songs on real life events and feelings which is what gives their music that edge and vibe. The musical arrangement and melodies are simply constructed as to keep more focus on the lyrical content and vocal delivery of the message. The band itself agrees that their idea of a great song is something with a message and the best way they can think of to convey a message properly is through simple music. The use of multiple instruments like the keyboard in addition to guitars and the clever use of percussions gives the music more layers that adds to its attraction and overall vibe.
After the release of a second critically successful album, the band has decided to take it up a notch and has a world tour planned. The tour will take the band all through Canada, America, Europe and Asia. As the band is already known to be a very exciting live band, the world is in for a treat! The boys are taking their bag of songs and going around the world to spread the message and give everyone a taste of their music. As the band has been extensively performing for the last four years, they are understandably pretty good at it and all the online support and feedback from their fans just goes to show that this tour is something all Indie music lovers will enjoy. Even if you are a not a diehard fan of the band, a Born Ruffians show is a great night out. Just get your Born Ruffians Tickets and you will be ready for a hip night out!
