A special tribute show that was founded by Whitesnake’s ex-drummer, Brian Thomas Tichy in 2010, is hosting its fourth one this year. The event has been given the name Bonzo’s Birthday Bash this time, as opposed to the name that has been used for the past three years; Bonzo: The Groove Remains the Same. The drummers playground promises to bring forth special guest performers such as Steven Adler from Guns N’ Roses, John Deservio from Black Label Society, James Lomenzo from Megadeth, Charlie Benante from Anthrax, Ray Luzier from Korn and Simon Wright from AC/DC, just to name a few. Sponsored by Marshall Amplification and Natal Drums, this year’s event will present a brand new addition of a John Bonham replica drum kit that will be placed center stage and upfront. Complete with the timpani and Paiste gong, the replica drum kit that will be used by all drummers, has been provided by Natal Drums, a drum kit and hardware company that has designed non-generic drums and innovative amps such as the Marshall Amp.
Each artist will make their way up to the stage performing their favorite Led Zeppelin songs. The performances will be completed with the help of a house band named the Moby Dicks which comprises of members Michael Devin of Whitesnake on bass, Stephen LeBlanc from the Led Zeppelin Experience playing the keyboards, Brian Thomas Tichy from S.U.N. handling the guitar, Chas West from Bonham providing the vocals and lastly, Brent Woods from Brentwood Forest playing rhythm and lead guitars.
Audiences will be provided with an entertainment powerhouse as they will get to see how each of the drummers who have made their mark in the music industry, play the same drum kit from different styles. The current lineup of performers who are expected to perform include a total of thirty six artists, who will be introduced one at a time by hosts, Uncle Joe Benson and Carmine Appice.
This fantastic musical extravaganza that is making its way to Englewood will be taking place at the Bergen Performing Arts Center, a non-profit organization that holds over one hundred and fifty showcases on an annual basis. Visited by over two hundred and fifty thousand audiences each year, the Bergen PAC embraces arts in all its spectrums, presenting a wide array of events from comedy to dance productions, classical to rock showcases and innovative educational programs as well.
The facility was opened for the public in 2003 and boasts of a luxurious and antique Victorian interior, inspired by the style of the thirties. With special acoustic features that have been inbuilt to increase the natural sound quality to its maximum level, this center was mentioned by Tony Bennett as being "America’s best-sounding hall".
This time the vintage hall is becoming host to the Bonzo Bash John Bonham Tribute event that is being held to celebrate the musical legacy of John Henry Bonham. He was an English songwriter and musician who passed away in 1980. The artist was best known for being the member of the iconic rock ensemble, Led Zeppelin. Often regarded as "one of the most influential drummers in rock history", Bonham is appreciated for his power, speed and precision that created a distinct sound which to this day, has inspired thousand of drummers all over the world. Even after this legend’s passing away at the mere age of thirty two, he continues to earn much deserved praise and awards. He has the honor of being placed on the top of Rolling Stone’s list of "best drummers of all time".
