In 1984, the band released its first album Bon Jovi, the band did several tours for its promotions. With the release of their second album 7800 Fahrenheit in 1985, the band decided to do tours and perform live in Europe and Japan to gain wider audiences. In 1986, Bon Jovi released their breakthrough album Slippery When Wet, the band made their first leap on the Billboard Hot 100 with their chart topping numbers “You Give Love a Bad Name”, “Livin’ on a Prayer” and the band biggest hit “Wanted Dead or Alive”.

“New Jersey” released in 1988, broke the sales and fame record of their previous album. The tracks which stayed on the top 10 list of the Billboard Hot 100 include; “I’ll Be There for You”, “Lay Your Hands On Me”, “Born to be My Baby”, “Bad Medicine” and “Living in Sin”.  Bon Jovi band members split in 1990 and after one year of separate solo career, got together again, the key member in this reunion was Jon Bon Jovi. The band has so far released 16 albums so far, including 3 compilations and one live album. They are known for their exploding performances in music festivals.
