In 1987 he came up with his debut record "King of Stage". The album spawned a hit "Girlfriend." Later he sought a more distinguishing musical identity in the growing new jack swing era. He joined the rising production team "Reid and Babyface" of Los Angeles to handle the commercial aspect of the album, with new jack founder Teddy Riley. His album "Don’t Be Cruel" constantly spawned hits such as "Roni," "Every Little Step", "Rock Wit'cha" and many others. In 1989, all these numbers reached the Top Ten and the album sold seven million units, which made Bobby Brown a superstar. He released a lead single Humpin' Around, which became a smash hit on both R&B and pop charts. "Forever" was his fourth album that he released in 1997 but unfortunately it did not gain much commercial success though it produced a few hits. In 1989, he contributed two musical numbers to Ghostbusters II’s soundtrack also making an appearance in the movie. He came up with a remix compilation, Dance! Ya Know It and received a fan following in UK, where Bobby found major success.
