Blues in The Night is a ravishing revue musical that will leave you muscially stunned once the curtains are drawn. Conceived by Sheldon Epps, this musical is a perfect blend of American jazz and Blues music with immaculate dialogue-free acting. Blue in the Night has been mesmerizing the audience for more than two decades now and has been performed at many occasions. Sheldon Epps and Gregory Hines staged this revue initially off Broadway under the supervision of Norman Rene in 1980, where it ran for 51 performances and was staged at Playhouse 46. The original cast included some fine actors like Gwen Shepherd, Rise Collins, David Brunetti and Suzanne M. Henry. The play tells the story of three women who are in a relationship with same snake of a man and all their stories are king of intermingled and linked and this is shown different blues and torch songs. After thirteen previews the musical finally opened as a Broadway Production in 1982 at Rialto Theater and ran for 53 performances, the cast this time included Charles Coleman, Debbie Shapiro, Jean Du Shon, and Lesslie Uggams but play again was directed by Sheldon Epps. Blues in the Night got great reviews and was nominated for the prestigious Tony Award in the category of Best Musical.
 
In 1987, the West End production of Blues in the Night was staged and this time it was under the supervision of Steve Whately, it opened on June 9 and ran till 19^th July at the Donmar Warehouse later on it was transferred to Piccadilly Theater where it ran from September 28^th till 28^th July 1988. The cast this time included Peter Starker, Carol Woods, Debby Bishop and Maria Friedman. At the same venue, the London cast album was recorded and Carol Woods was nominated for a Laurence Olivier Award in the category of Outstanding Performance of the Year by an Actress in a Musical and the play was nominated for Best Musical. Carol Woods also acted in the next production that ran for 45 performances in New York City at the Minetta Lane Theater other cast included Lawrence Hamilton, Brenda Pressely and Kathleen Rowe McAllen.
 
Most recently, Blues in The Night revue was staged in 2007 at the Post Street Theater in San Francisco for eight weeks. Cast included Carol Woods, Freda Payne, Paulette Ivory, and Maurice Hines. Some of the famous songs that are used in this Blues in the Night are Baby Doll (Bessie Smith), Copenhagen (Charlie Davis), These Foolish Things Remind Me of You (Harry Link, Holt Marvel and Jack Strachey), Lover Man (Jimmy Davis and Roger Ramirez), Reckless Blues (Bessie Smith), Rough and Ready Man (Alberta Hunter), Tack it Right Back (H. Grey), Willow Weep for Me (Ann Ronell) and Am I Blue? (Grant Clarke and Harry Akst).
