The world renowned rock band, Black Sabbath is all set to take down the Rexall Place in Edmonton. The indoor arena is inviting classic rock fans to watch one of history’s greatest rock ensembles perform their most popular hits live. Located to the north of the Northlands, the Rexall Place is an indoor venue known for hosting hockey events and concerts. The upcoming Black Sabbath Edmonton concert is expected to bring in audiences from all over Edmonton. Formed in 1968, the heavy metal group is based in Aston, Birmingham. Its founding members include Ozzy Osbourne, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward and Tony Iommi. Over the years, the group has undergone several lineup changes but has been performing actively for over four decades now. Its current lineup includes all original founding members except for Bill Ward. Initially Black Sabbath was named “Earth” and incorporated a blues rock theme to its songs. However over the years, the members started being influenced from occult themes with tuned-down guitars. They started writing songs on political corruption, social instability, horrors of war and dangers associated with drug use.
Throughout its career, Black Sabbath has released 19 albums, their most recent release coming forth in 2013 named “13”. This album came forth after a recording break that lasted for seven years. Many refer to Black Sabbath as being the pioneers of metal. Selling a massive amount of seven million records throughout the world, Black Sabbath has been placed in VH1’s and MTV’s “100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock” and “100 Greatest Artists of All Time” lists, respectively. If this wasn’t enough the band received induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and UK Music Hall of Fame in 2006 and 2005, respectively.
