A Bit About Billy Raffoul

Billy Raffoul had always been sure of what he wanted to become and growing up in a family full of creative people helped build up his goals and dreams. Belonging to Leamington, a town in Ontario, Raffoul’s mother is a writer, teacher and an artist, while his father, Jody Raffoul, is a musician who has been an opening act for multiple big names including Joe Cocker and Bon Jovi. As expected, his earliest involvement in music came through his father.

Talking about the earliest music he remembers listening to, Billy Raffoul said, “the Beatles were like Jesus in our house,” adding that singers like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding were also pretty common names in the household.

It was on his tenth birthday that the promising youngster received his first musical equipment – a ‘British-invasion’ inspired guitar that had a Union Jack on the front. By the time he was 16 years old, he managed to get his first real guitar – a beautiful 1968 Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty, the same model as the one Jimi Hendrix owned.

The Music of Billy Raffoul

With the foundation all set for Billy Raffoul to enter the music business, there was no going back. At age 23, the young star has already managed to wow vast audiences with his signature sound and his soulful voice. Add to that his meaningful and deep lyrics, and he is the complete package. Talking about his inspiration for his music, after managing to impress the right people in the industry, and comparisons to notable artists like Jeff Buckley and Neil Young, Raffoul got signed on to Interscope Records. With a sound that has been described as “low-timbered rock and roll”, Billy Raffoul is ready to dominate the world of contemporary music.

At 22 years of age, the singer/songwriter released his major label debut single, “Driver.” The song featured his trademark rough-hewn sound that has the ability to take you back a few decades. Raffoul also makes use of weaving stories with music. The lyrical content talks about picking up a hitchhiker on the way to home from a performance.

Talking about this track, Raffoul said, “The guy was really out of it, so he ended up staying with us for a few hours. [During my writing session] we turned [that] into something a little more sentimental, in that maybe I’m not singing about someone being lost on the side of the road, but maybe someone lost in life who doesn’t know where they’re going or what they’re supposed to be doing.”

The Songs of Billy Raffoul

Throughout 2017, Billy Raffoul continued to release singles such as “Difficult,” “Until The Hurting is Gone” and “Dark Four Door.” This early music helped him establish himself as a force to be reckoned with. With the turn of the new year, Billy Raffoul delved further into his musical abilities and released some fresh new music. These included songs such as “Forever,” “Acoustic,” “Could You Be Mine?” “You Be Love” and “I’m Not A Saint.”
