Big Daddy Kane released his debut LP Long Live the Kane in 1988. It featured the hit songs “Raw” and “Ain’t No Half Steppin’.” The album featured at number five on the “R&B Albums” chart. His sophomore album, It’s a Big Daddy Thing, followed in 1989. The album scored significantly higher on the “The Billboard 200” chart and peaked at number four on the “R&B Albums” chart. It spawned the number one hit on the “Hot Rap Singles” chart, the all time famous “Smooth Operator.” “I Get the Job Done” was another single from the same album that featured on the Billboard charts.

Taste of Chocolate followed in 1990, with its highlight being Kane’s duet with legendary singer Barry White. The LP featured Billboard hits “It’s Hard Being the Kane” and “All of Me.” The same year Kane received a Grammy Award for his collaborative single “Back on The Block.” It won the “Best Rap Performance By a Duo or Group” award.

1991 album Prince of Darkness was a mellower, R&B based collection that performed modestly on the charts. Looks Like a Job For… was somewhat of a comeback gaining ninth position on the “R&B Albums” chart. In 1998, Kane released Veteranz Day which is ostensibly his last album to date. The album featured the number nine hot rap single “Uncut, Pure.”
