A duo of country music artists, initially shunned by Nashville mainstream, but eventually polishing up their image, Big and Rich became the face of the Music City as 2000s drew closer. The band started off by playing in the late nineties and in just a span of two years turned their story into a success tale of the new millennium. Their journey towards fame started with the first step as being mainstream radio stars followed by nomination in the Industry Awards. The road to success smoothened with time leading them to a position where they dominate the genre of Country Music today.


Big and Rich met each other when they were in a progressing stage of their solo music career. In 1998, Rich attended a concert of Big Kenny. This was the first time when the two exceptionally talented artists, the founders of the future phenomenal band of country music first met. A meeting between them concluded with the decision of writing songs together. One of their combined efforts was the song ‘I Pray for You’. Unsure of recording music together at this stage, it was launched as the first single of Rich’s solo career. Getting a positive response on the single, both gained confidence in each other and started jamming at each other’s shows. Their live performances were honored with the presence of other talented artists of the industry including John Nicholson and James Otto. Soon, their informal sessions took the shape of a weekly Tuesday night gig- Muzik Mafia. This was a point where the band actually started building up on its fan following. As Big Kenny quotes “We watched it go from twenty people to three or four hundred people, slamming in the joint. And that kind of made us think, 'Hell, people love what we do, why worry about our acceptance as artists?” Big and Rich believed in the idea of giving their best to the audiences in the form of incredible music. Only this could reciprocate with the positive response for the band’s efforts. Mafia took them a step forward and made Big and Rich sign a deal with Warner Bros. Nashville.


Songs like ‘She’s A Butterfly’, ‘Red Neck Woman’ and ‘Wild West Show’, among others made their standing strong in the industry with a top position among the other country artists of the music industry. The band released three studio albums including, ‘Horse Of A Different Color, ‘Coming To Your City’ and ‘Between Raising Hell And Amazing Grace’ till 2007. Their music releases were widely appreciated by Entertainment Weekly and Country Weekly in the form of positive reviews, stating “the variety of musical influences in its soundtracks was phenomenal and the songs worked ridiculously well”. Its songs have been a subject of the documentaries on Great American Country. One of them was November 8^th: A true American Story of Honor. This single did not only happen to be a theme for the documentary but also earned the band nominations for Grammy, ACM and CMA Awards.


Big and Rich took a break after launching its album in 2007. After a three year hiatus they are back with a brand new single Fake I.D from its forthcoming album. According to Big Kenny the single is “hot and on fire”.  The band is ready to perform all its hit tracks in a live concert this summer season!
