Bernhoft was always a music fan. He used to perform as a member of the "Norwegian Opera" where he developed his vocal talents. By the time the middle of 1990’s rolled into town, he decided to turn professional and enter the mainstream music industry. He took his first steps as a professional musician by joining a group called "Explicit Lyrics." Fridtjof "Joff" Nilsen was a part of that band as well and the two of them struck an immediate friendship that was to prove very productive for both of them. Bernhoft remained a member of the group till its dissolution.
He then formed the group "Span" with Nilsen, "Vemund Stavnes" and "Fredrik Wallumrød." The inception of the group occurred at the turn of the century and they made their debut two years later in the year 2002. They started off performing in Norway and other parts of Europe. Those tours brought them into the limelight and the group signed their first major deal in 2002.
That was the break they were looking for so without wasting any more time, Span hit the studio to work on their debut album titled "Mass Distraction" which came out in 2003. The album received a fairly positive response. Span followed that up by touring various parts of their native Norway as well as the United Kingdom. That brought them more recognition. The group then made their way to the studio once again to record their next album that was titled "Vs. Time." It was released in 2005 and once again was met with a positive feedback. Unfortunately, the group broke shortly afterwards and the members decided to go their own separate ways.
Bernhoft then made a decision to turn solo and embarked on this latest chapter of his life with renewed optimism. He made a concerted effort to explore what soul music had to offer. He started to perform while pushing the genre’s boundaries. He came out with his first solo album in 2008. "Ceramik City Chronicles" hit the music stores on 1st September that year and turned to be very successful. He followed that up with "1:Man 2:Band," that contained recordings of his concerts at "Rockefeller," " Molde Jazz Festival’’ and a performance he gave at the "Kampo Bistro" the famous café renowned for jazz music located in Oslo.
To make his next album more diverse and awe inspiring, Bernhoft joined hands with none other than "Fred Ball," the famous producer. The album was titled "Solidarity Breaks" and it was released in the year 2011. It turned out to be an instant hit that went on to capture prominent positions on the charts in Norway. It spent multiple weeks at the top spot on Norwegian charts as well.
Later that year Bernhoft’s video caught the attention of the people producing "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." They were so impressed by what they saw that they immediately contacted this wonderful artist and gave him an invitation to feature of the program. Bernhoft played the track "C’monTalk’ and received a rousing reception from everyone who watched that performance.
Bernhoft is now all set to captivate American music fans with his incredible voice. He has travelled to the country as part of a very special tour and hopes are high that this will be the year when he finally makes his mark. So don’t miss out on Bernhoft tickets and catch him perform live in a series of wonderful concerts.
