Based in Beijing, China, the classical Beijing Symphony Orchestra was founded in October 1977. The orchestra has a diverse number of musicians, having unparallel command over various genres. Several of them have won national or international awards. Since its inception, the orchestra has presented a number of renowned works by both Chinese and foreign composers.
The Orchestra is currently led by music director and principle conductor Tan Lihua. Musical consultants Li Delun, Huang Feili and Jin Xiang have also made enormous contribution towards the orchestra’s development. Beijing Symphony Orchestra has released four amazing records with EMI after 2007 forming first co-operation between EMI and a Chinese Symphony orchestra. In 2008, the orchestra completed 212 works of recordings of national anthems for29th Beijing Olympic games. The recording was unanimously appreciated by International Olympic committee.
