Anna has always been highly regarded in the press and in the industry at large. Callaway is not just simply a singer. She is a songstress, who has composed more than 250 songs for the commercial business to date. These include songs for Broadway show and other theatrical productions, and some for television shows as well. Moreover, other than Barbra Streisand, other famous singers have also used her compositions—Liza Minneli, Peter Nero, Carole King, Barbra Carrol and Patti LuPone amongst others. One of her most popular tracks was "At the Same Time", which reached the number one spot, earning the composer the first of her three platinum selling records. Streisand would also make Callaway compose songs on request. On one occasion, she requested her to write a tune for James Brolin’s wedding. The track was called "A Love Like Ours" and was included in Streisand’s later album.
Callaway is a capable performer who has received many honors during her time. She first received a nomination for a Tony Award when she appeared in "Swing!" and was honored in the "Best Featured Actress in a Musical" category. She later won the Theatre World Award in the category of "Outstanding Broadway Debut".
