Eight-time Grammy winner, and nominated multiple times for the award, singer-songwriter Anita Baker became an important figure of the eighties American Music scene, particularly in the Rhythm and Blues/Soul Gospel genre. Baker's refined style and her silky alto has not been out of vogue ever since she stepped into the world of music. Originally from Toledo, Ohio, Baker belongs to Detroit, Michigan. She showed promise as a singer when she was only twelve. She has been active in showbiz since 1978. Baker has won Grammys in the category of Best Rhythm and Blues Vocal performance by a Female Artist, as well as Best Rhythm and Blues Song and Best Soul Gospel Song. Compilations andLive Albums include: The Best of Anita Baker, Christmas Fantasy and A Night of Rapture. A variant of the compilation with a slightly different track list, titled Sweet Love: The Very Best of Anita Baker was released in the UK in 2002. The album includes songs from 1983-2002.

In 2007, she did a rendition of the Broadway classic "Somewhere" from West Side Story on Dave Koz's album At the Movies. Baker's album Christmas Fantasy includes traditional Christmas carols, Broadway classics and duets with singer Eastmond.
