Anderson Paak began producing music while he was still in his teens. His first experience of live performing was at his family’s church. This is also where he met and married his first wife. Later on they divorced and Paak met his second wife during the time he was a teacher at a music school and she was his student.
In the year 2011, Anderson Paak earned some recognition in the Los Angeles music circuit as he was working on his debut studio record. Financially Paak was unstable at the time and it was Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra who helped him by giving him a job as an assistant, editor, producer, writer and videographer. He completed the album O.B.E. Vol. 1 and released it in 2012. Paak then became the drummer for Haley Reinhart, a contestant on the much popular show American Idol.

Anderson Paak released his debut studio album Venice via OBE and Steel Wood in October, 2014. The production of the record was handled by Paak himself along with other record producers including DJ Nobody, Lo-Def, Kelsey Gonzalez, Mikos the Gawd, Ta-Ku, Tokimonsta and DK the Punisher.
Venice was supported by two singles – Miss Right and Drugs. The former was released in October, 2014 while the latter dropped in January the same year. The collection features guitar work by Jos Rios, bass and acoustic guitar by Kelsey Gonzales and keyboard work by Ron Avant.
Anderson Paak performed on six numbers on Dr. Dre’s 2015 album titled Compton and on two tracks of the record The Documentary 2.5 by The Game. In October of 2015, Paak announced that he had recorded music material with the two acclaimed acts 9th Wonder and ScHoolboy Q.
In January, 2016 he treated the fans to his second studio record Malibu. All songs on this album were written by Paak himself. The album was supported by four singles; Am I Wrong, Come Down, Room in Here and The Season/Carry Me. Malibu received much critical acclaim and was placed high on the year-end lists by numerous music critics. It was also nominated for a Grammy in the ‘Best Urban Contemporary Album.’
In the year 2016, Anderson Paak was named among the XXL Freshman along with names like Lil Dicky, Lil Uzi Vert, 21 Savage, Denzel Curry, Kodak Black and Dave East. In 2018, the musician’s new single ‘Til It’s Over featured in a television commercial directed by Spike Jonze and released by Apple Inc. The commercial promoted the Apple HomePod smart speaker and featured FKA Twigs in the video.
Anderson Paak’s third studio album Oxnard hit the store shelves on November 16, 2018. With a heavy funk theme, the album features appearances by artists including Snoop Dogg, Kendrick Lamar, Q-Tip and J. Cole. In December, 2018, Paak announced a world tour in support of the new album.
