The creation of modernized form of Got Talent is accredited to Simon Cowell, who created a series by the name of Paul OGrady’s Got Talent, which was scheduled to go public in 2005. But due to some discrepancies the show never went on air, and America’s Got Talent become the present day incarnation of the Got Talent franchise. Due to his contract conditions with FOX, Simon Cowell doesn’t appear as a judge on the show, even though he is closely involved with the production of the show.
The before the show goes on air, a string of producers’ auditions are carried out in various cities in United States. So only those acts who make it through the producers’ auditions, make it to the judges auditions round, which gets televised. After the producers’ auditions, the selected acts then perform in front of the celebrity judges. There are three judges on the show, and each one of them has a buzzer. So if an act gets two no’s, that act gets eliminated from the show. However for past few seasons, audience members also play their role in judging any act, and their votes can even influence any of the judges’ vote.
With exception to the Season one and Season four, the Las Vegas week has also been added in between the celebrity judges’ auditions and the live shows. This intermediary round is called the Vegas Verdicts or the Las Vegas Callbacks. In that round, the acts perform in front of the judges one more time, and the acts that are picked from the Las Vegas Week then progressed ahead to the live shows. Sometimes, any act, which gets eliminated in the Las Vegas round, is brought back in the show as a Wild Card Act.
The real excitement and fun begins as soon as the Live Shows kick in. Every season, the live shows are held at any of the renowned venues on the Las Vegas Strip. During the live shows, the acts perform in front of the live audience and compete for viewers votes instead of the judges. Except for Season one, judges at the live shows now have the power to end any of the performance early, before it’s finished.
During the live shows, the acts perform in a number of quarterfinals which add up to become the first round. Sometimes an addition of the shows is made to these rounds in case of some additional performances. By the end of these shows only half of the original number of acts remains, as half of them get eliminated due to the lesser amount of votes by the viewers. After a series of eliminations throughout the weekly shows, the number of the acts gets smaller and smaller, as they moved forward for the semifinal round. All those series of eliminations and rounds lead to the final live show, which usually features top four or ten acts from the season.
During the live shows week, the show attracts large number of audience members due to the thrills and chills that the extraordinary acts have to offer. If top of the line excitement is what you’re looking for this summer, America’s Got Talent tickets are just for you.
