The Allman Brothers Band was founded in 1969 in Jackson Florida by talented duo of brothers Gregg Allman and Duane Allman, both of them had been playing music since early age and worked on different projects like forming a garage band Escort in 1963. The Allman brothers met some very talented musicians namely Dickey Betts, Butch Trucks and Berry Oakley, all these grouped to form the Allman Brothers Band. The bands initial genres were pretty diverse as their music was a mix of blues, jazz, classical and even hard rock. The group has been signed to many different major recording labels like Capricorn Records, Arista and currently Sanctuary Records and as of yet they have released 13 musical albums over a span of 40 years.

Their first album was released in 1969 and was named after the bands own name, this album was pretty successful, got good reviews from critics and the bands fan ship started to grow. The band released another fine album Idlewild South in 1970 continuing their typical music style and this helped in getting the band more sales. 1971 saw the release of one of the finest albums by the band and in music industries history, this was a gold certified live album recorded at the very famous rock show hosting venue Fillmore East and the album was named At Fillmore East, this year was of fame as well as tragedy for the band as acclaimed guitarist Duane Allman died in a road accident. In 1972 Eat a Peach was released with a slightly different more Bluesy tone and Betts fill in for Duane, another tragedy stuck when bassist Oakley also died in a road accident.

The band was going successfully but in the mid 70’s tensions started between band members citing music differences plus members went into drugs resulting in the band not performing up to the mark. In 1979 the band tried to regain its foothold, with new members guitarist Dan Toler and bassist David Goldflies, they released a much improved album Enlightened Rouges but this could not help in the band’s decreasing popularity and as a result the Allman Brothers was disbanded in 1982. After some solo acts and singles by band members Greg Allman took the initiative and reunited the band with some talented players on guitar, keyboards and bass, the band after a long gap of 8 years released Seven Turns which was an instant hit with the critics and was considered the comeback for the Allman Brothers. In 1995 the band was honored by induction in the prestigious Rock in Roll Hall of Fame and in 1996 their Instrumental Jessica won them a Grammy for Best Rock Instrumental Performance.

Bands success went on as in 2003 they released yet another fine album Hittin’the Note, in 2003 and 04 they were again nominated for Best Instrumental Grammy for their track Instrumental Illness of the same album. Since 2003 Allman Brother Band regularly performs at the very popular Bonnnaroo Music Festival. At the Billboard Touring awards in 2008 the band was given the Legend of Live Award and in 2009 they celebrated their 40^th anniversary. Current band lineup consists of Greg Allman organ, vocals and piano, Butch Trucks drums, Warren Haynes Guitars, Oteil Burbridge bass and vocals and Derek Trucks guitar and slide guitar.
