He is not only one of the founding members of the band “Staind” but also a solo singer as well who has captivated the audience with his multi-dimensional singing. Born on 13^th April, 1972 Aaron Lewis is a multi-faceted rhythm guitarist and vocalist. His genres are different with Staind and when he goes solo. Staind music is based on post-grunge, alternative rock, nu metal and alternative metal whereas when he goes solo he shifts to country music. He has been performing as a solo artist since seventeen years of age. Aaron was a part of a band J-CAT prior to forming Staind along with another Staind founder Jon Wysocki and that was when they decided to create their own band. Initially Staind started taking songs from other bands like Alice in Chains, Rage Again the Machine, Tool, Pearl Jam etc and started playing them at various local clubs like Club Infinity.
 
Their first album “Tormented” was self-released in 1996 but it didn’t get the kind of response the band was expecting and sold only four thousand copies. That didn’t throw off the band and, through a common friend, landed a spot at a concert with Limp Bizkit which was very successful. Their second album “Dysfunction” was released in 1999 by a major lable Flip Records. The album was co-produced by Fred Durst of Limp Bizkit and Terry Date. The album was a huge hit and was lauded everywhere especially Aaron’s vocals were compared to the legendary Eddie Vedder. Songs like “Home” and “Mudshovel” both went to the Top 20 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock charts and Modern Rock. Staind went on tour with The Crystal Method and Limp Bizkit to promote “Dysfunction”. “Break the Cycle” followed “Dysfunction” in 2001 which was an alternative metal studio album. The album shot straight up to number one on Billboard's Top 200 Album charts on debut and sold seven hundred and sixteen thousand albums in the first week alone. The songs like “Fade”, “Its Been Awhile” and “Outside” were huge hits and the album sold over seven million copies around the world and made it the bands most successful album. “Chapter V” was the next album that again went straight number one and got platinum ratings in the US. The band went on a nonstop year long tour to promote the album. Aaron Lewis and the band did an acoustic show at the Hiro Ballroom in New York where they played sixteen songs and made it into their next album “The Singles: 1996-2006”.  Their next album was “The Illusion of Progress” which was released in 2008 which had a limited edition version as well that included three bonus songs. The album made its debut at number three on various charts and sold over ninety one thousand copies in the first week.
 
In 2010 Aaron Lewis announced the band will be working on their seventh studio album by the end of the year while he was also working on his first solo album which was based on country music. The solo album was titled “Town Line” which was released at the start of 2011 by Stroudavarious Records. There are seven tracks in the album which includes three different versions of the first song “Country Boy”. Aaron said in an interview his fascination with country music started when he was introduced to it by his grandfather but his love for it was revived when he was on a tour with Kid Rock.
 
Aaron Lewis is a phenomenon who has been voted at number forty nine on the metal music magazine “Hit Parader” list of Heavy Metal’s All Time Top 100 Vocalists.
