The American post-hardcore band that sprung up from California in 1995 is known as A Skylit Drive. The bombastic combination of band members consist of Michael Jagmin at the vocals with the drummer, Cory La Quay and the bassist, Brain White also making their contribution to vocals. Joey Wilson and Nick Miller play guitars while Kyle Simmons is at the synthesizer and keys. With each member mastering their field of expertise, the band is bound to produce magic.
The band members keep on experimenting with various genres. Among the favorite genres of the band are metal core, experimental rock and post-hardcore. It is recognized as the pioneer of bringing to the ears the sound of post-hardcore with aggressive screamo and pop inclinations of emo. The initial band members of A Skylit Drive came together when they were all still in high school and formed a gang to produce their debut song, ‘She Watched the Sky’ (2007) with the label named Tragic Hero. The band underwent quite a few changes in the structure and lineup and finally settled in 2008 with Michael Jagmin as the lead singer. Jagmin proved to be an asset to the band with his exceptional vocal range.
There debut album’s release was by the name, Wires… and the Concept of Breathing. The album managed to score ninth position at the Top Heatseekers Chart, number 20 at the Top Independent Albums chart, and ranked at no.171 at the US Billboard 200. The band decided to film a video for the album for its promotion and went on an extensive touring. They conducted performances with other bands such as August Burns Red, Silverstein, and Greeley Estates. A Skylit Drive also recorded a live DVD album for its supporters, which was released in December 2008 by the name Let Go of the Wires. 2009 marked the release of a song named ‘Those Canons Could Sink a Ship’, which was later included as the first song of their upcoming album. Their second album release was in the month of June (2009) with the name Adelphia. The album shot up to 64th number at the US Billboard 200. It was released with the label, Fearless Records and the band was signed to be a part of the Warped Tour 2009. A Skylit Drive performed for charity several times and took their first Europe tour after completing their American promotional campaign for the year.
Despite rigorous touring for their sophomore album, the band started working on their third album right after Adelphia and announced to come up with a follow up album early the next year. Keeping their word, the band released Identity on Fire treating its followers once again. The band had changed their label once again for a new album release. It recorded its latest album with Hassle Records and continued with its tradition of extensive touring. The band also signed once again for the Warped Tour 2011. For All Those Sleeping, Woe, Is Me, Scarlett O’Hera, and Motionless in White are the other bands that A Skylit Drive toured to promote Identity on Fire. They also released a music video for the song ‘Too Little Too Late’. The album scored 98th position at the US Billboard Top 200 chart, including good ranking in the US Rock and Alternative charts.
The band went on to give hints about more album and song releases coming out this year for the hungry listeners. However, no official announcements have been made. It is anticipated that A Skylit Drive might include a few songs with participation from other artists as well. Group members have planned a rigorous tour for 2011 as well.
