Keillor interest was piqued after he researched on the Grand Ole Opry while writing an article. He wanted to then create a variety show that could be delivered on radio and succeeded in doing so when in 1974 his show A Prairie Home Companion Keillor was broadcasted lived for the first time when it was preformed at MacalesterCollege’s Janet Wallace Auditorium located in St.Paul.
