The Stylistics is a group that specializes in soul music and is recognized as one of the most famous 1970s’ Philadelphia soul ensembles. The band was formed in 1966, picking its members from two music groups "The Monarchs" and “The Percussions". The initial lineup consisted of Herb Murrell, Russell Thompkins, James Dunn, James Smith and Jr. Airrion Love. The Stylistics produced a number of music hits, all of them being ballads. The band was known among the most successful groups during the first few years of the 70s. The ensemble produced twelve U.S. R&B Top 10 hits in the early 1970s. Some of these hit tracks include  "Betcha by Golly, Wow", "You Are Everything", "You Make Me Feel Brand New", "Break Up to Make Up" and "I'm Stone in Love with You". The song "Stop, Look, Listen (To Your Heart)" that the band recorded in collaboration with Linda Creed, who was a lyricist and Bell, was the most successful. During that time, the songs they produced constantly found great acclaim. It was during that time when the band released three classic records; “The Stylistics”, “Round 2” and “Rockin’ Roll Baby”. The debut track by them “You're a Big Girl Now", was penned by the guitarist of Stylistics, Robert "Doc". Throughout the early 70s, the ensemble was known as the perfect example of the expression, 'Sweet Soul'.
 
The Emotions is an all women R&B and Soul singing group that was formed in Chicago by three sisters. The present lineup consists of Sheila Hutchinson, Pamela and Wanda. The girls had a music background and were taught how to sing as soon as they started talking. They came up with their debut album So I Can Love You, in 1968. The title song of the album, along with the single "The Best Part of a Love Affair" were written by Sheila and both the songs were minor hits. The band has come up with a number of singles such as "Santa Got Stuck in the Chimney", "Somebody New", "Good Old Days", "I Can't Control These Emotions", "The Best Part of a Love Affair", "Heart Association" and "Black Christmas". The Emotions came up with other records like Sunbeam and Rejoice in 1977 and 78. The girls have performed in an outdoor music concert in Rochester NY and still tour continuously around the country to entertain their fans, appearing in various venues.
 
Another great music group to perform in the event is The Chi-Lites. It is a quartet based in Chicago and is known for its smooth soul vocal abilities. The group was formed in 1970 and consisted of Robert Squirrel Lester, Marshall Thompson, Tara Thompson, Anthony Watson and Fred Simon.
