The emerging rapper 6lack has been exceptionally busy in the first half of 2017, opening for The Weeknd on his “Starboy: Legend of the Fall tour”. In his forty-five minute opening sets, 6lack has performed his original songs which fall somewhere between soul, trap, rap and R&B. 6lack’s dreamy delivery is also becoming recognized as his signature style. Since then, the rapper has recorded new music back home in Atlanta, at the Love Renaissance recording studios which he is very excited to share with the world. Now, 6lack has announced his first headlining tour scheduled to kick off this fall. 6lack tickets for these events are available now.
About the Singer
Pronounced as “Black”, 6lack is a stage name adopted by Ricardo Valentine. The hip-hop artist is renowned for his debut single PRBLM which has reached platinum status in 2017. 6lack’s music echoes the voice of the marginalized and stems from his personal struggles with poverty and discrimination. He looks up to newer artists such as The Weeknd, whom he opened for earlier this year, for rising out of their adverse circumstances and touching millions with their art. He tries to do the same, with freestyle raps on songs such as “Break From Toronto/Atlanta” which resonates with the black community in particular.
6lack is a conceptual stage-name; it makes the individual a voice for the universal. The use of ‘6’ is an inversion of the ‘B’ in ‘Black’ to put people off, into believing there is more to this than meets the eye. He is a big believer in inspiration, and occasionally changes his look to meet a new musical concept he may be working on. For example, for his upcoming tour, 6lack decided to cut his dreadlocks because he wants to be able to see his audience, and for them to be able to see him too. He changes his surroundings to write new music, or shuts himself in a particular studio, depending on what he feels like doing at the time. 6lack is a true creative soul, and he always puts inspiration before everything else. His passion and honesty resounds through his work.
First Headlining Tour
6lack spent the first half of 2017 year opening for The Weeknd in the first leg of his “Starboy tour”. The artist enjoyed this experience to such an extent that he announced his own headlining tour in August, to be launched in the fall of 2017. At present, it is a 28-date tour which may be extended, playing in venues of different sizes across the U.S. Washington D.C’s 9:30 Club, Orlando’s Plaza Theatre and Milwaukee’s Eagles Ballroom are just some examples of places where 6lack will perform.
On the tour, he is also accompanied by Sabrina Claudio, a rising voice in the world of R&B. She will be his opening act on this tour. Claudio recently struck gold after years of promoting her music on SoundCloud with the release of a video for her sultry single “Start it over”. Her meaningful lyrics and dreamy voice transports listeners to a musical era of the past. As a result she is a good fit for 6lack’s tour and her announcement to tour with him has created a lot of buzz in the R&B community. 6lack tickets for these shows are already running out; book one of them for yourself soon.
Watch out for 6lack(‘s) magic
Along with this tour, 6lack is constantly working on new music. He has mentioned in interviews that this music is going to be different from what he has already recorded, as it would reflect newer experiences the artist has had over the course of this first-time independent tour. His current tracks under “Free 6lack” represent his own frustration. However, newer music may represent the increased scope and vast perspective he has received this month.
