A small town in Love County, Oklahoma, Thackerville is a beautiful quiet place. Founded in mid-19^th century, Thackerville is name after Zacariah Thacker who was a pioneer from Arkansas. The famous story about Zacariah Thacker is that he was headed for the Amarillo, Texas but he stopped by Wolf Hollow Creek for one night but then remained there for a long time. Together with his friends, he farmed a very productive corn crop and many people from surrounding areas came and settled. He died in 1887 and after his death community relocated from near Addington Bend to its present location to get close to Santa Fe Railway. Soon a depot, grocery stores, schools, post offices and churches were constructed. After that, places for fun and entertainment were also opened up. In 1926, US Highway 7 was established from the Red River through Thackerville.
 
Today, Thackerville is home to many world class attractions. Two of its major venues are Winstar World Casino Hotel, operated by the Chickasaw Nation and Winstar golf course designed by Weibring-Wolfard Golf Design. Winstar World is Oklahoma’s largest Casino and world’s second largest. The building is a marvel designed by Lyndon Stromberg. It offers a diversity of everything ranging from restaurants and bars to poker rooms and is a popular entertainment attraction.
