Huntington Ny Tickets

Huntington NY, known as ‘Ketewomoke’ to its earliest native settlers centuries ago, is a town located in Suffolk County and counted as one among the many notable areas in the New York metropolitan. Huntington, derived from ‘Hunting Town,’ got its name from its characteristically abundant possibilities of wild games when settlement first began.  In 1653, three English gentlemen purchased a piece of land on the north shore of Long Island, which alongside other purchases of neighboring land eventually became the Town of Huntington NY.  Many of its inhabitants were the English folk who arrived in the town through Connecticut and Massachusetts, and shared a sense of strong kinship with New England as opposed to the neighboring Dutch people who had settle in nearby in New Amsterdam.
By way of affiliation with New England, the settlers were remarkably keen on establishing educational facilities soon after the township’s founding. In the years that ensued, just before the advent of the American Revolution, Huntington NY had already developed a prosperous community living. In fact the area of Village Green was the spot where the settlers had located. However, it was not until 1778 that Huntington NY finally gained recognition as a town.

The population of Huntington NY grew multi-exponentially after the Second World War; from a mere mark of 32,000 in 1940, it went up to 200,000 by the 1980’s. Consequently, the face of its rural structure went through much change with the disappearance of open land and farms and the ultimate cropping-up of schools, residential areas, recreational facilities and burgeoning business and industry particularly, manufacturing and shipping. Today Huntington NY tickets attract tourists from the world over owing to the multiple historic sites, landmarks, museums, theaters and other culturally rich spots. The absolute important-to-visit sites are the Oheka Castle, Heckscher Museum of Art and the Paramount Theatre. Oheka Castle, currently a historic hotel, is the second largest private home in the US with the famous 127 rooms, covering over a massive 109,000 square feet. Built as early as 1914-1919, the estate offers tours of its gigantic mansion and exquisite gardens. The Heckscher Museum is named after the man who donated 185 pieces of art in 1920 to be placed in the current building. Today the Museum displays more than 2000 works of art among which the most ancient is a piece from 1534 by Lucas Cranach the elder. For further intellectual and cultural entertainment, the newly opened Paramount Theatre attracts many live shows particularly concerts owing to its capacity of 1500. The architecture of the theatre is designed and fashioned according to high quality sound which makes it a popular spot for all of Long Island. Big names such as Elvis Costello, Jack’s Mannequin, the B52s and the like have been associated. Artists from all genres put on their shows all year round, so you are bound to catch huge bites of fun whatever month you choose to tour Huntington NY. One must avail those Huntington NY tickets and experience the bedazzling wonders embedded in this culturally-rich township.
