Venues of Binghamton
The city can trace its roots back to the time of the American Revolution; however, since then it has come a long way. It is the cultural and urban center of the Greater Binghamton area. Although it started off as a center for manufacturing and transpiration of goods, it has changed quite a lot over the years. Today it has quite a lot to offer to the young and vibrant visitors. The city’s major center, the Binghamton University, has driven quite a large student body to the city which has changed the outlook to a great extent. The university has become the center of student activities such as arts, sports and theatre. The university’s Nature Preserve which is located on the southern side of the campus provides the students an ample opportunity to study and to entertain them. For the little visitors coming into Binghamton, the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park, one of the oldest zoos in the US, is a wonderful treat. He was part of the Saint Louis Cardinals and won them the World Series title in 1931. The Binghamton Senators today are a well known name in professional hockey hailing from Binghamton. They started their journey in this very town back in 1973 as the Broom Dusters at that time. Over the years they changed quite a few names and have won division titles twice. They also won the Calder Cup in 2011. Binghamton also hosts two amateur sports tournaments which pull some of the best amateur sportsmen of the world every year. The World Youth Classic is one of the best youth baseball tournaments and plays teams from Ohio, New York and Kentucky. Similarly the Stop DWI Holiday Classic is another high school basketball tournament that also calls some of the best basketball players in the youth.
