December 4, 2019

Doobie Brothers will hit the road in 2020 for their 50th anniversary tour. Former singer and keyboardist Michael McDonald is going to join them for this special 30-city outing. The surprise announcement came on their November 18 concert at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee when McDonald made a guest appearance during the encore of the show. It will be the first time in 25 years that McDonald, Patrick Simmons, Tom Johnston, and John McFee will tour together.

“We’re truly excited about our 50th Anniversary Tour, as it’s a celebration of the band’s entire history,” says Johnston. “We’ll be performing songs from our full catalog, as well as new music.”

Not only is the band excited but so are the fans that cannot wait to get Doobie Brother tickets to join the 50th anniversary celebrations. Opening act for the Doobie Brothers on the upcoming trek is the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

The Classic Rock Act

Doobie Brothers came together in 1970. The legendary rock band has since given fourteen studio albums and finest classic rock numbers such as  “What a Fool Believes” “Takin’ It To The Streets,” “Long Train Runnin’,” Listen to the Music,”  “China Grove,” “ “Black Water,” and “Minute By Minute.” The lineup of the band has fluctuated a lot over the years with Patrick Simmons and Tom Johnston the only two members to be with the band from the start.  McDonald was the voice of the band from 1975 to 1982 before going solo. Over the years he teamed up with the Doobies on several occasions and now returns for the 50th anniversary trek.
