The Book of Mormon Tour Sells Out Venues on Multi-City

The Book of Mormon Tour is selling out venues on its second national run and this 2015 trek will mark its debut in numerous cities. The Book of Mormon’s 2015-16 season has announced performances in Fresno and Arizona, and will also be returning to Washington, Denver and Seattle. Having amassed accolades in the form of a Grammy Award and nine Tonys, it has been called the best musical of this century by The New York Times. The satirical musical follows two young Mormon missionaries on a trip to Uganda and treats the audience to an impeccable production. Created by “South Park” brain trust Matt Stone and Trey Parker, along with “Avenue Q” fame Robert Lopez, The Book of Mormon is a brave effort with uncompromising production standards.

The second Book of Mormon Tour made its debut amidst rave reviews and brisk ticket sales. The Mormon Tours have a history of selling out venues and previously as well it has broken 81 house records in 44 different theaters across the US. In the July 5 (2015) week it broke record at the San Jose’s Center Performing Arts Center, grossing up to $1,858,214. The Book of Mormon is currently running simultaneous productions in New York and Washington. While the musical is enjoying an open run at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre in NY, Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington DC will stage performances from July 16 – August 16. Featuring a talented cast – David Larsen as Elder Price and Cody Jamison Strand as Elder Cunningham, The Book of Mormon Washington tickets are among the most expensive ones. According to ExciteEvents, theatergoers will have to pay $1262 to attend the July 28 show and $928 for the July 23 performance. Even the cheapest ticket is for $241.

The musical continues to rake in huge revenues at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre and during the 7/19/15 week grossed $1,654,152. The top ticket price went up to $475, whereas the average ticket price was $168. According to ExciteEvents, July 22 to July 28 week shows considerable hike in average ticket price, which has now gone up to $444. The most expensive The Book of Mormon ticket carries a price tag of $457.

In Denver, the musical will stage performances from August 11 till September 13. The extended run at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House features Billy Harrigan Tighe as Elder Price and A.J. Holmes as Elder Cunningham. Tighe has been part of numerous national tours and his credentials include playing Fiyero in “Wicked” and a pivotal role in “Dirty Dancing”. Due to the acclaimed cast and immense popularity of the show in the city, Denver has the most expensive tickets so far. On ExciteEvents, August 13 performance has the average ticket price of $2060, whereas August 12 & 14 tickets are available for $1875 and $1765, respectively.

The Book of Mormon will come to Seattle’s Paramount Theatre on December 29 and performances will run through till January 10, 2016. With the same cast as Denver, theatergoers in the city can take a sigh of relief. According to ExciteEvents, Seattle has affordable tickets, ranging from $372 to $199.

Fans and critics for once agree on one thing – money can buy happiness, if you’re in possession of The Book of Mormon tickets.
